The Local Services Board of Aweres recently began funding recyclable material collection of cardboard, cans and plastics in our area. GT Waste Systems currently holds the contract for this service with most areas in the Township either receiving weekly curbside pickup or access to specified drop-off locations.
To better organize recyclable material collection, cardboard will be picked up on alternating weeks from cans and plastics. The following schedule outlines which materials are picked up during which week and days.
#1 (PET) Plastics means Polyethylene Terephthalate plastics with the #1 inside a mobius loop which includes but is not limited to beverage, salad dressing and mustard containers, as well as food trays, etc.
#2 (HDPE) Plastics means High Density Polyethylene plastics with the #2 inside a mobius loop which includes but is not limited to vinegar bottles, cleaning product containers, certain food container trays, etc.
Aluminum Cans means all food and beverage aluminum and tin cans.
Old Corrugated Cardboard (OCC) means any craft paperboard with a rippled medium which does not have contaminants, such as waste and plastics, and is free from absorbed contaminants such as oil, blood, etc. Boxes used to contain other recyclables will be collected.
Boxboard means a single layer paperboard packaging, which includes but is not limited to cereal, shoe, cracker and frozen food boxes. Unflattened boxes used to contain other recyclables will be collected.
